about
According to existing statistics, about 45 million people in Iran use the Telegram messenger. Nemadino is a Telegram bot designed to assist users of the Iran Stock Exchange who are active on this messaging platform. It enables them to quickly access detailed live data and charts of their stocks, as well as share this information with others across various operating systems.
PROBLEM
Sharing is tough!
Many traders in Iran's capital market turn to the Telegram platform for information, engaging in group discussions and sharing valuable insights. However, this process often requires switching between various applications or software to gather information, followed by the tedious task of taking screenshots and potentially cropping images. Additionally, it's rare to find all the necessary information from just one source.
SOLUTION
Nemadino
Nemadino is a Telegram bot designed to simplify the viewing and sharing of live stock data with others, accessible on both smartphones and computers. Its primary aim is to streamline the tedious process of switching to other applications, taking screenshots, and then returning to the messenger to share the information as images. Nemadino swiftly creates images and responds to traders' requests in both group chats and private conversations on Telegram.

Journey of Exploration
Competitor Analysis
There are many websites, mobile applications, and Telegram bots out on the market that target similar audiences, so I investigated a number of apps working in capital market to find out how Nemadino could offer a unique experience.
Tablokhani
Many people already use this website since it provides more free processed information than brokers do. However, its focus is not on facilitating the sharing process and users still need to switch between the browser and Telegram messenger.
Tahlilgar Bourse
This is one the most popular applications available on the android and ios, but it lacks in speed and and data accuracy as I have read comments and and tested myself. Moreover, it would be such a pain for traders to use smartphones since most of them use PC or laptop.
Saham Graph
Saham Graph is not a popular Telegram bot and the reasons fot its unpopularity are obvious. It lacks in giving detailed and well-organized data. Furthermore, it redirects users to a website when asked to show a stock's chart.
User Interviews
I conducted user interviews in order to gain a better understanding of traders' true needs. I also created an official Telegram account for Nemadino support so that in the early stages of the app design and after releasing beta version interviewees and users could easily reach me, since people in Iran are very accessible on Telegram messenger. It raised a chance to interview people and gather the feedbacks simultenously.
My main research questions were to find out:
- Whether participants had experienced any similar product and have difficulties with them.
- What suggestions they have for products they had used.
Some useful insights I discovered:
- One had experienced a similar Telegram bot, but he complained that the bot doesn't provide data graphically and the content is not readable.
- Another said that she doesn't need comprehensive information and prefers brief but very accessible data.
- Most participants asserted that it would be so convenient if they had access to information in one place as they do their other works.
- They showed a great reaction whey they could reach even most basic data in their chats with others.
Persona
Following the interviews and with the insight I gained from, I put together a persona to define my taget user.
Kian is an avid trader who actively communicates with others on social media to reach the best conclusions. He also owns a class that is held on the Telegram platform. However, he can't easily handle his job and his trainees simultaneously when the market is open.
Developing this persona helped to keep me aligned with my goals of making a medium to simplify traders' tasks who are active on Telegram.
User Journey Map
This user journey map for the persona shows the existing pain points of a trader who is active on Telegram. It presents opprtunities where I can improve users's experience, such as delivering data sooner than similar products and let users access comprehensive information on Telegram platform itself. Virtually, this capability was not seen in any bots or apps. With well-organized pictures of stocks and section of the market, the need for quiting Telegram diminishes drastically.
Wireframing
This wireframe shows the basic flow of the Nemadino bot,
given the fact that we had to consider and follow Telegram guidelines and limitations to build a bot. For insatance, all the operations happen in private or group chats with commands or simple buttons.
High Fidelity Mockups
Since I had to follow Telegram principles, creating high fidelity mockups for the bot flow didn't make sense, so I focused on visualizing the statistics in pictures as depicted in solution section.
Branding
We considered a blue pallete as it gives a sense of security and reliability, and yet is modern. The logo itself looks like letter "N" and is similar to a chart that hits the circle around it as an indication of a target.
REVISIT
It isn't possible without iterations.
It is not possible to see everything on the first visit and design. Folowing the product release we received many insightful suggestions from users, especially group admins
Here is the most prominent ones:
1. Some users asserted that it would be too cool to be able to receive pictures with their desired backgroud color. Due to development limitations, we decided to provide three elective themes to satisfy users as much as possible.
2. Another important capability that admins suggested and we had missed was to consider a menu for group admins to allow them to disable bot for other members of the group when is needed.
All in all, we conducted many iterations based on valuable feedbacks we received that the results gradually was added to the product.
OUTCOMES
My first real-world product.
Future work
Currently, the product is out in the market, we keep the contact with users and review feedbacks for future updates.
Our focus is to provide the most useful and processed information at a glance for users to reduce their work. To be more specific, we plan to investigate on statistics and devise charts that convey more comprehensive information about a stock
Personal Lessons
Having contact with many end-users was an excellent opportunity to understand the power and importance of a user-centered design before production, inasmuch as I hadn't been able to see all the capabilities of the idea.
It also gave me more confidence seeing how my initial idea flourished and turned into a popular trading assistant that many people rely on. I reaped a lot from this project as my design and communication skills also improved through this experience.
